Almex ticket machinesThe Swedish company Almex started producing ticket machines in the mid-1950's. Until the late 1980's, Almex machines were probably the most popular transport ticket machines in Germany. Although Almex produced a wide range of machines (like the electric ticket machine type E or the type M), the machine is usually associated with the name "Almex" is the mechanic ticket printer of type A. An Almex type A machine was a purely mechanic device that could be used to issue (bus and train) tickets and to do the daily accounting. Many different machines were constructed, but the main construction principles were almost identical.
The image above shows the Almex model 1518, formerly used by the German railway administration in their bus services. Any Almex-A consisted of several bands, where tarif information and the ticket price could be coded. More information is coming soon... Here you can find a brief description of common technical problems with Almex-A machines (sorry, in German only). skatzenbeisser@acm.org Last modified: Sun Apr 29 17:06:11 CEST 2007, that's 1177859171 seconds after January 1st, 1970. |
